If music is what you wake up to, go to sleep to, and dream about at night. If it is what you turn to in your pains and joy, love and hate, wars and peace – then this is the movie for you.

The year 1966, the thrive of British rock & roll, yet BBC radio still plays under an hour of pop music a day. For the majority’s good fortune, praite radio stations anchored in the North Sea play rock and pop music 24 hours…every day.

Through the lives of the people of Radio Rock we explore the wonders and beauty of music, and how their world and the music they broadcast captured the hearts and souls of millions. It is a tale of comedy, love, drama, morals, hope, and most of all, a cause.

Truly not your typical hollywood blockbuster, and hence a highly recommended watch.

“Remember, that them who could walk should walk; them who could dance should dance; and them who could fly…”

When Michael and his family moved to a run down house, they found themselves in a dump crawling with bugs and mold. Prowling about the garden shed, Michael came upon what he thought to be a junkie sheletred inside of it. As his mother (Kelly Macdonald) went into early labor and his dad too busy at work and the hospital, Michael had more time to himself to unveil the mystery of the man in the she. Helped by his new neighbor friend, Mina, they were soon to find out that the broken man may have more to him that meets the eyes.
A story of hope and the underestimated power of love – a must see.

Being a devout fan of Linkin Park, I couldn’t believe when I heard that Chester Bennington, the infamous linkin park vocalist, has left the band. I just couldn’t imagine listening to their songs with another vocalist. As expected, it turned out to be just a rumor. The truth being that Chester has formed a side-project called Dead by Sunrise, a Rock/Electro band featuring Amir Derakh and Ryan Shuck, as well as Brandon Belsky, Elias Andru, and Anthony “Fu” Valcic. The band’s debut album, Out of Ashes, is due for realease on October 13, 2009.

In 2006, working on songs for Minutes to Midnight, Chester came up with a few songs that sounded very good, but didn’t feel like Linkin Park. According to him, “..they were much darker and moodier.” So instead of transforming them into Linkin Park tracks, he decided to work on them on his own.

The band’s name, Dead By Sunrise, also has a story behind it. While beginning to work on the album, Chester found himself a lot of times in a self desctructive-state, and at times was even unsure he was going to make it to the next day. Hence, Dead by Sunrise reflects that state, and Out of Ashes, pictures his emergence from the state he was in.

Dead by Sunrise performed for the first time, on May 10, 2008, three of their songs (Walking in Circles, Morning After, and My Suffering). Later, they started touring with Linkin Park in Europe and Japan, jumping in the middle of Linkin Park’s set, playing a few songs, then jumping out and letting Linkin Park finish the set.

They came first for the communists,
and i didn’t speak up because i wasn’t a communist.
Then they came for the jews,
and i didn’t speak up because i wasn’t a jew.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and i didn’t speak up because i wasn’t a trade unionist.
Then they came for the catholics,
and i didn’t speak up because i was a protestant.
Then they came for me,
and by that time no one was left to speak up.

This is a poem attributed to Pastor Martin Niemoller, about how the German intellectuals remained silent while the Nazi’s were rising to power and putting away all those who opposed them or those who they just considered inferior.
Over the years, several variations of the poem arised and some even changed the text, but yet the original idea remains.
Here’s one variation i came across by the American punk rock band NOFX:

First they put away the dealers,
keep our kids safe and off the street.
Then they put away the prostitutes,
keep married men cloistered at home.
Then they shooed away the bums,
then they beat and bashed the queers,
turned away asylum-seekers,
fed us suspicions and fears.
We didn’t raise our voice,
we didn’t make a fuss.
It’s funny there was no one left to notice
when they came for us.

Personally speaking, I’m not saying we should allow prostitution or drug dealing. The point is that the society at large, would always tend to make up rules and set what’s right and what’s wrong. They’ll always claim that that’s the right way to be and act, which I totally disagree with. We can’t just label everything right and wrong, or good and bad; everyone has there way of viewing things and understanding them. We live in a world that claims personal freedom and democracy, but unfortunately, we rarely see or experience this. Personal freedom is still held within certain limits. Sure you can dress and act the way you want, but don’t expect to be accepted by everyone around you – you’ll still be labeled and stereotyped.
It shouldn’t be called freedom if there is a “but” after it, the only exception should be placed at the freedom of others. Meaning, your free to do what you want, as long as you don’t invade on the freedom of others or bring harm upon anyone. And as long as we remain silent – thinking that we’re safe, sooner or later, they’ll find something that’s not “good” or ethical about us; and by that time, no one would be there to help us out and raise a voice.

When I was young I used to enjoy watching people using those old type writing machines, and the sound it produced made my fingers itch. For me that sound alone became an inspiration and a motivation to sit down and write just to hear this sound. Only problem is, I didn’t have a type writer. It was thus a stroke of luck when I came across WriteMonkey. WriteMonkey is a simple text editor, a lot like notepad. However, the options and display WriteMonkey offers I find aid a lot when you’re trying concentrate on reaching that deadline but keep being distracted by one thing or another on your desktop. WriteMonkey just blanks out the whole screen, and gives you a choice of downloadable typing sounds, such as old typewriter, quill, robotic, etc… Best thing about it is…it’s all free!
